Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking some serious measures to tackle increasing water scarcity in the country. He recently announced that Rs 3.5 lakh crore will be spent in the next five years under the newly formed Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide piped water to all rural households by 2024. The Jal Shakti Mantralaya is adopting new and unique methods to meet the deadline for the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme. The ministry is using a technology named Helibound to map the water reservoirs across India. It is also working on reviving traditional water resources. Another initiative it is excited about is recognizing the individuals who have worked hard to improve the ground water level in their villages.
