Reserve Bank of India to launch an app for visually impaired

India’s central bank (Reserve Bank of India) is working on an application that will help visually impaired people to identify currency notes. This will be of great help to them. Daffodil Software Pvt Ltd has been selected to develop the application and first version of the app will be ready on November 1. Interestingly, the app will also generate “audio notification” informing the currency note denomination to the user if image is captured correctly. It will also prompt the user to try again in case of image is not readable. There are about 80 lakh blind or visually impaired people in the country, who are likely to benefit from this initiative of the central bank.
